Independent Contractor Therapist — Telehealth| Oregon/Washington

Free Spirits Therapy is a growing, identity-affirming group practice serving individual adults, couples and relationships throughout Oregon and Washington via telehealth. We specialize in working with LGBTQ+ clients, non-monogamous and polyamorous relationships, kink/BDSM communities, sexuality and intimacy concerns, and clients seeking therapy that is sex-positive, and grounded in an understanding of diverse identities and relationship structures.

Who We're Looking For
We are interested in clinicians who have experience, training, or a strong interest in working with:
  • LGBTQ+ clients
  • Non-monogamy and polyamory
  • Kink/BDSM communities
  • Sex and intimacy concerns
  • Relationships and couples
  • Trauma, anxiety, depression, and other common mental health concerns
Applicants should be comfortable providing gender-affirming care without pathologizing clients' identities, sexual interests, or relationship structures.

The Position
This is a fully remote independent contractor position providing telehealth services to clients located in Oregon and Washington (depending on licensure).
Clinicians maintain autonomy over their schedules and clinical work while Free Spirits Therapy provides the infrastructure needed to build and maintain a caseload.
There is no required minimum caseload to join the practice; however, we are particularly interested in clinicians who would like to build toward approximately 15–25 sessions per week.

Compensation
Contractors receive a percentage of collected clinical revenue, with Free Spirits Therapy retaining enough to cover practice infrastructure and support.
Clinicians who maintain an average caseload of 20 completed sessions per week for six consecutive months become eligible for an increased split.
Specific terms regarding calculation of caseload, payment, cancellations, insurance adjustments, and the increased compensation tier are outlined in the Independent Contractor Agreement.

  • Maintaining an active Oregon professional license in good standing
  • Maintaining individual professional liability insurance
  • Providing a secure, HIPAA-compliant workspace and reliable internet connection
  • Completing clinical documentation in accordance with professional, legal, insurance, and practice requirements
  • Maintaining appropriate continuing education and professional requirements
  • Managing their own availability and clinical schedule
  • Providing ethical, culturally responsive, identity-affirming care

Qualifications
Required:
  • Current Oregon license permitting independent clinical practice
  • Professional liability insurance
  • Ability to provide telehealth services in accordance with Oregon requirements
  • Commitment to LGBTQ+, non-monogamy/polyamory, kink, and sex-positive  care
  • Strong clinical documentation, communication, and professional boundaries
Preferred:
  • Experience working with LGBTQ+ communities
  • Experience with non-monogamy/polyamory and/or kink/BDSM
  • Sex therapy training or experience addressing sexuality and intimacy
  • Experience providing relationship/couples therapy
  • Existing insurance credentialing
You do not need to be an expert in every Free Spirits specialty. We value clinicians who recognize the limits of their competence, are interested in continued learning, and approach unfamiliar experiences with curiosity rather than judgment.

About Free Spirits Therapy
At Free Spirits Therapy, we believe therapy shouldn't require clients to educate their therapist about who they are before meaningful work can begin.
Our goal is to provide therapy where queer identities, diverse relationship structures, sexuality, and kink are understood as part of the client's life—not  treated as the problem.
If this sounds like the kind of practice you've been looking for, we'd love to hear from you.

To apply: Please submit your resume/CV and a brief introduction describing your clinical interests, populations you enjoy working with, and what interests you about joining Free Spirits Therapy.
